Pompano Beach is the southern end of our Broward County route, just below Deerfield Beach. Bins pressure washed, sanitized, and deodorized at the curb.
Broward County
The residue left in a bin after collection is food, and in this climate it does not stay unnoticed for long. Flies find it first, then roaches, and a bin kept beside the house becomes a reason for both to be there.
Emptying the bin does not remove any of that. The truck takes the bags; the film on the walls and the liquid in the base stay exactly where they were.
How it works
Pressure removes what has baked on. Sanitizing deals with what pressure alone leaves behind, which is the part that matters for anything living in the bin. Skipping the second step is why a rinsed bin still smells a day later.
The bin is then deodorized, and the products throughout are biodegradable — worth knowing for a bin that sits near a door and drains onto a driveway.

Questions
It removes what draws them, which is the residue rather than the bin itself. A sanitized, deodorized bin is a much less interesting place for them to be.

Monthly is the most common here. Quarterly works for households that fill bins slowly, and a one-time deep clean is a reasonable way to start.
